The latest World Championships have brought major changes to the SSL Ranking. With 2,500 points available for a World Champion title, the competition at the top is getting tighter than ever!
Let’s take a look at this week’s SSL Ranking highlights.
Hungary’s Jonatan Vadnai won the 2026 ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship in Ireland and made one of the biggest moves in this week’s ranking. The new World Champion climbed an impressive 74 places and now sits in 11th position in the overall SSL Skippers Ranking.
The entire top five from the ILCA 7 World Championship has also made its way into the top positions of the SSL Ranking. Matthew Wearn, the silver medallist, Michael Beckett, who won bronze, fourth-placed Lorenzo Brando Chiavarini and fifth-placed Elliot Hanson are now all ranked among the top 15 skippers in the world.
Meanwhile, the 470 World Championships in Enoshima, Japan, also had a major impact on the ranking. After an outstanding performance and a gold medal, Great Britain’s Martin Wrigley moved ahead of Jordi Xammar in the SSL Skippers Ranking. Wrigley is now fourth overall, while the Spanish sailor sits in fifth place.
Germany’s Theresa Löffler also made a significant move after winning silver in Japan, advancing to fourth place in the Women's SSL Skippers Ranking.
In the SSL Crew Global Ranking, Bettine Harris, the new 470 World Champion, is now in fourth place, while bronze medallist Marta Cardona sits seventh.
At the very top of the overall rankings, John Gimson, following his success in the Nacra 17 class, remains in first place. Georgia Lewin-LaFrance, representing the 49erFX class, continues to hold second place overall.
