Meet Las Catrinas! SSL Team Mexico enters Group I of the SSL Gold Cup Panam-Quilifiers with a talented crew.

At the helm is Yanic Gentry, a multiple-time Mexican National Laser Champion and the country's representative at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Beyond sailing, Yanic is also a civil engineer and naval architect, bringing both sporting knowledge and technical expertise to the team. As captain, he will lead Las Catrinas in their pursuit of a place in the SSL Gold Cup Finals.

Joining him are brothers Namkhai and Sanka Bourquín, both ILCA 7 sailors from Banderas Bay and members of the Vallarta Yacht Club.
Namkhai takes on the role of pit onboard. In October 2026, he finished fifth at the qualification regatta in Canada, helping Mexico secure its place at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. His recent international performance adds momentum to the Mexican campaign.
His brother Sanka will serve as main trimmer. In 2025, he achieved an impressive third place at the ILCA U21 World Championships in Peru, demonstrating his potential on the international stage.
With an Olympic captain, two talented ILCA 7 brothers and a strong foundation in competitive sailing, Las Catrinas bring an exciting mix of experience and ambition to the SSL Gold Cup.

Group I promises a tough challenge, with Cuba, Bermuda and El Salvador standing between Mexico and a place in the Finals.
