In the Star Sailors League, competition goes far beyond tactics and wind shifts. Each team is made up of top sailors who proudly represent their country on an international stage. However, the SSL is not only about racing, it is also about unity, teamwork, and creating a global sporting atmosphere similar to a Football World Cup, but… in Sailing. The idea feels familiar, almost like a football world championship, except the pitch is open sea and the stakes are written in wind and waves.
Sixty-five nations. One stretch of water. A fleet not only defined by skill, but by identity.
Each team’s kit begins long before the first race. Designers look closely at national flags, cultural motifs, and subtle visual cues that make a country instantly recognizable. The outcome is never generic.
All athletes wear matching jerseys, shorts, socks, and caps, reinforcing the sense of unity within the team. The structure of these outfits closely follows football-style uniforms. On the right chest, there is an emblem representing the country in the SSL competition, while the player’s number is displayed on the back. Among them, the captain stands apart, often marked with the iconic number “10,” a quiet nod to leadership and responsibility.
The uniforms are made from 85% recycled polyester and 15% elastane, making them lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. They also offer 50+ UV protection. Thanks to oceanbalance technology, the fabric is durable, flexible, and quick-drying, perfectly suited for demanding conditions on the water.
And that is not the only stop with the sailors
On the water, referees cut through the scene in black-and-white stripes, an unexpected but unmistakable reference to classic football officiating and American sports. Even the marks on the race course follow this visual rhythm. Around them, the broader SSL team, officials, shore crew, and media, operate within their own coded system of identification, each role immediately recognizable.
It all adds up to something more than uniforms. It becomes a language. A way of reading the event at a glance. A reminder that, even in a sport shaped by nature, identity is carefully, deliberately designed.
