He is currently sailing in the 49er class along with Fernando Diz, with whom they are seeking to qualify for the 2024 Olympics. Together they have been Youth European Champions (U23), overall Asiatic Champions, bronze medalists in the Junior World Championship, and Top 15 in the World Championship. Hernán was also Northamerican Optimist Champion, and ended in the 13th position in the Optimist World Championship. He studies Maritime Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of Cádiz.
