Hideki Wakayama, born in Hiroshima City in 1970, began his sailing journey in Hiroshima in 1996. Turning professional in 2000, he joined the Kansai-based sailing team SLED in 2003, participating in domestic races and later expanding to the east coast of the United States. Wakayama's notable achievements include winning the 2006 Farr40 Class North American Championship and becoming the Rolex TP52 World Champion in 2021. Active in the TP52 class, he secured impressive overall positions from 2014 to 2023, including a 2nd place in the 2023 12M Class World Championship.
