A Laser Standard sailor, Khairulnizam is a veteran of 4 Olympic Games (London, Rio, Tokyo and Paris). He is a double silver medalist in the Asian Games and a multiple gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games. He is a regular crew member of top keelboat programs in the Asia Pacific region such as Australia's TP52 Team Hollywood and more recently Thailand's TP52 THA72. He also races in the J70, Fareast 28R and Platu 25 one-design classes in Asia. he continuosly showed a tremendous result by finishing 10th in Gran Canaria SSL World cup and will set sails for up ciming SEA games in Thailand. Nizam hails from Klang in the state of Selangor.
